Gel Cube is engineered to be Firm (Supportive) and Soft at the same time.

Column Buckling

The word “Column buckling" is frequently used in architecture.
It refers to a phenomenon in which a column structure bends in the direction of the cross section when an axial force exceeding a specific size is applied

Various conditions affecting buckling

The core technology of Gel Cube lies in its material and structurer.

Gel Cube has a unique structure in which Beta Gel, a new material, is horizontally arranged in the form of a double honeycomb column.

It is a technology that effectively converts vertical pressure into horizontal direction as hundreds of honeycomb columns made of highly elastic Beta Gel are dynamically buckled.

Gel Cube with this technology provides maximum comfort at all times by softly accepting body pressure while firmly supporting the body.

Important factors considered in cell design

  - Cell size

  - Cell spacing

  - Cell wall thickness

  - Cell shape and structure

  - Elasticity and Hardness f the material

The upper and lower layers are sequentially buckled to distribute body pressure

The upper and lower hexagonal columns with different cell wall thicknesses are sequentially buckled (double-buckling) to maximize the distribution of body pressure.

Upper layer

The upper layer with the thinner wall is comparably buckled easily and soft.

Lower layer

The lower layer with thicker wall distributes the body pressure once more and support the body.
